Stella never ceases to amaze

Team GB have bagged their first gold medal in the run up to the 2012 Olympics. Okay so its not in an actual sport but the team have definitely grabbed a gold in the style stakes. It has been announced that Stella McCartney, the queen of laid back luxe, will oversee the design of the entire national kit.

I couldn't think of a better designer to have chosen. With a successful diffusion line for Adidas under her belt, not to mention her international fashion label, she seems to be the ideal candidate. Her Adidas range has combined comfort and style into a label that would get even the most gym-phobic person to the gym and all down to the lure of looking great whilst feeling hideous.
When I was younger, a lot lot younger, a lot fitter and a lot more disciplined, I was a competitive swimmer. At every gala there would be a stand selling the latest swimming costume designs by Maru and Speedo. Somehow I always managed to persuade my parents to buy me a new costume before I went out to swim. The feeling of putting on that new costume as opposed to the drab threadbare ones I used to train in was so good. I would walk onto the poolside all proud and ready to go out and beat the others. I always put my successes down to my new costumes.

I'm sure the Great Britain team will be looking so sleek, cool and definitely a head and shoulders above the rest that it will be reflected in their performances. What other country could have such an amazing designer board.

You never know we might see a new cult item paraded around the Olympic Village. Fingers crossed we will and Mark Spitz's infamous stars and stripes Speedos can forever be put to rest.I think he was definitely channelling Tom Jones.
